Metwork
Metwork is where lawyers build power through meaningful connections that bridge the silos of the legal industry.
Onboarding - Let’s Get Customers on the Platform Faster
Goals - Increase conversion and lower the time to complete onboarding. As well, use our new design system directly, instead of wireframing first.
Outcome - Went from 54 steps to 10. Time to complete went from 15 minutes to 3 minutes. Used new branded patterns created by myself and our Lead Product Designer. All designs now worked across desktop and mobile.
Referrals - Working Together and Making Money
Goals - Get attorneys paid
Outcome - I redesigned the entire feature and handshake experience that allowed attorneys to transfer a referral to one another. This included a simplified handshake, empty states, clear understanding who was sending a referral vs. accepting one. Document and contract files were secured and private to each customer’s chat.
I started with the old and convoluted experience and patterns inherited by the previous design team. Mobile didn’t work correctly to the point it was broken. As you can see, by the red marks, there was a lot to consider.
So let’s make sure the new handshake, which is legally complex, is clear to the designers and engineers. Left: shows the entire experience. Right: shows the referral handshake specifically.
There are 3 sections for the customer to worry about. Details to learn about the case. A secure and private document uploader, and private chat. I used typical mobile app patterns to help this complex experience be more familiar and expected.
Groups : A Means to Build Community
Goals - Metwork’s vision is to bring attorneys together and build a book of business and expertise that doesn’t exist today. Groups are a simple way to take the old fashioned business of expensive Associations and let the community build their cohorts as they please….for free!
Outcome - Deliver desktop and mobile experiences to create, join, contribute, and manage a group. Creating a group can be for a field of practice or for people and their pets. Joining needed to be personalized for each customer. As well, groups can be private and secure vs. open to the public. Contributing to groups was from posts to conversations (much like a forums, but think Slack channels). Finally managing is from inviting colleagues, blocking people, posting private and public papers or videos to the community.
I needed to understand what older design patterns Metwork had to make sure I was inventing every new experience. Then I got to designing…
This is the high level designs from finding the Group to join, it’s content, the other customers that have joined (that one could then connect and talk to) - all across desktop and mobile.
Teams : A New Industry Standard to Build AAA Case Teams
Goals - Law Firms bring in work and some clients require expertise that a firm doesn’t have. Building a team with Metwork needs to help a customer find the expertise missing from a case. It needs to show the customer (The Leader) what their team strength is, to help make a decision on who else to hire, getting them to the best case outcomes.
Outcome - I created a new experience, using Metwork’s AI to show a customer how to build a team, with the correct roles and colleagues to fill those roles. I provided a secure and private means to share documents and track relevant conversations across teammates.
It’s easy. Case details, Member and Role management, private chat, and shared documents. Of course, both desktop and mobile were required for launch.
Members and Roles were the bread and butter. A Team Leader could create roles they know they’ll need and begin searching Metwork for attorneys to fill those roles based on case data, personal profile and case history data. As a member as added the team’s strength would be visible, to show how much more likely their ideal outcomes would be.
