Creating an NFT Marketplace from scratch

When nothing exists, starting with basics if worthwhile, and showing the web devs simple flow with some relevant details to backend data access is always needed.

Selling NFTs is truly the value of ownership in gaming. It needed to be EASY and OBVIOUS.

Buying NFTs is surprising complex when one doesn't use US dollars. Wallets are tricky and I dint’ want users to make mistakes when they were turning US dollars into crypto tokens.

Goal: Make sure new NFT users can buy and sell items as easily as Amazon.

A Marketplace is commerce and there was no need to reinvent how one buys something online. But what I needed to accomplish was hiding the complexity of NFTs, blockchain transactions, and wallet syncing.

  1. Be contextual and tell the user in common language what’s possible.

  2. Show users what else is available to purchase if other NFTs are too expensive.

  3. Show different UI states so developers could understand the backend API calls to blockchain services we integrate with (ImmutableX in this case).

  4. OH! And we made it mobile too, of course.

Screens needed to update in real time depending on what user was looking at an NFT at any given time. Button CTAs changed in real time, so user’s knew what they were looking at.
