Sphero

As a startup, one may want to show its ability to make money, some want to be in the market as fast as possible.  Sphero needed to show people how $130 robot was worth it.  I generated a system of apps to do it.  We made 14 in two years.

But when the iPhone 4s with duel cores came out….tech needed to shine.  This ball was an impossible feat of engineering, so why not torture ourselves with a style of gameplay NO one - not even Disney or Sony could do….a moving trackable object for AR gaming!

If you’re making robots for kids - humor and personality are your highest commodities.  I wanted Sphero’s innate zanny fun to come out.  If you couldn’t come up with a story to make kids laugh, we move on to another idea.  Sphero was fine with that.

Sharky The Beaver - Augmented Reality

Yes!  This is the first and only augmented reality game we still know about that uses a moving marker.  But of course we can't be serious - kids play with Sphero.  So what better than a Beaver who wants to be a shark to scare the cupcakes out of you?  That's what we made.

I was in charge of art direction, voice acting, audio and music production, all character concept and user flows, game mechanics and game play.
